US Chess Center
Washington D.C. Suburban School Chess Programs

Chess is catching on in a big way in the Washington D.C suburbs. Several schools in the Maryland and Virginia suburbs are teaching chess to students as part of the regular school day to supplement their academic curriculum, sometimes in addition to what we teach. To learn how your school can teach chess, visit the teachers page or send us a note.

In addition, we organize many major chess tournaments for suburban youth. A sampling:

Thousands of suburban young people play chess in activities such as these every year.

We are running before- or after-school clubs in the schools listed below during the 2009-2010 academic year. Some of these schools allow students not enrolled in the school to participate in the club.
