CHESS TOURNAMENT

Open to any student in any school in grades K - 8.

On-site registration runs from Noon - 1:00 p.m.

Any student in kindergarten through eighth grade may play in this tournament. Players must be or become members of the US Chess Federation. Membership may be purchased at the tournament. This is a nationally rated event.

Games begin at about 1:15 p.m., after an explanation of the rules and procedures of the tournament. It will end at about 6:00 p.m.

Games are played at a Game/30 Minute time control (each player has 30 minutes to play the game.)

The tournament is divided into three sections: K-3, K-6 and K-8.

Trophies will be awarded to the top individual players and the top teams representing schools. Other awards will be given to other players.

All contestants play four games. This is not an elimination tournament.

All official tournament rules will be followed.

Players must bring pencils for recording their moves and should bring their own chess boards and sets if they have them. The tournament does not supply any equipment.

Entry Fee: $10 per player if received by October 7, $15 later. Please make checks payable to the US Chess Center and mail to:
