Election Day Chess Tournament
Tuesday, November 6, 2007 For students in grades 2 - 8 who need something fun to do while their schools are closed. This chess tournament will be held on a flexible schedule. The doors open at 8:45 a.m. Students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m. A pizza and Sprite lunch will be served to all players as part of the $45 registration fee. All players must pre-register. You may download a registration form here. It helps us prepare when you register in advance. Trophies, medallions and other awards will be given to players. Games are played at Game/30 time control. This is not an elimination tournament and students are expected and welcome to spend the entire day with us. There will be some quiet time between games for students to do homework and for others to receive chess lessons. Bring your own chess equipment (boards, pieces, clocks if you have them). The U.S. Chess Center is in a convenient part of Washington, D.C. We are one block from the National Geographic Museum and five blocks from the White House. |
