U.S. Chess Center Championship
April 12-13, 2008
4-Round Swiss System One Section Chess Tournament Time Control: 30/1, SD/1. Each player must make 30 moves the first hour, and finish the game the following hour. (Games cannot last longer than 4 hours.) Registration runs from 11:30 until Noon on Saturday. Rounds begin at Noon & 4:30 on both days. All players play four games. This is not an elimination tournament. Half-point byes are available any round but final round byes must be requested before the tournament begins. Open only to members of the U.S. Chess Center. Entry fee: $10 if received by April 5, $15 later. The winner of the tournament will be recognized as the U.S. Chess Center Champion, and will receive an impressive trophy and either $50 or a one-year extension of his Center membership. The top junior (under age 18) will receive an impressive trophy. The tournament will be nationally rated by the U.S. Chess Federation (USCF) so all players must be or become members of the USCF. Membership may be purchased at any time at the U.S. Chess Center. Please bring boards, sets and clocks, as no equipment is provided by the Center. The gift shop sells equipment, chess books and other paraphernalia, including Center t-shirts. Last year's championship was won by Greg Acholonu. |
