Kent Gardens Cup

Kent Gardens Elementary School of McLean, Virginia, hosts the Kent Gardens Cup every year to promote good sportsmanship and friendship among local elementary schools through chess. In 2011 the teams invited were Chesterbrook, Churchill Road, Forestville, Great Falls, Haycock, Louise Archer, and Spring Hill, in addition to host Kent Gardens. Teams consisted of twelve players from each school.

The 2011 tournament had several of the closest matches in the history of the event including seeing the champion Louise Archer team win in the final match with Spring Hill with the tiebreak score of 36-34. The champion team was:
