Kent Gardens Elementary School of McLean, Virginia, hosts the Kent Gardens Cup every year to promote good sportsmanship and friendship among local elementary schools through chess. In 2009 the teams invited were Chesterbrook, Churchill Road, Franklin Sherman, Great Falls, Haycock, Louise Archer, and Spring Hill, in addition to host Kent Gardens. Teams consisted of twelve players from each school.

In 2010 the teams will be Churchill Road, Franklin Sherman, Great Falls, Haycock, Kent Gardens Louise Archer, Spring Hill and Willow Springs.

In 2009 Churchill Road made a good run at the defending champs but Louise Archer prevailed again. The champion team was: Standing: Perry Feng, Edi Danalache, Nate Vollbrecht, Keval Mehta and Chris Liu Kneeling: Isuru Attanagoda, Jesse Cai, Andrew Jiao, Larry Cai, Daniel Xu, Ben Liu and Caleb Suh
