National Capital Scholastic Chess Cup

Open to any student in any school in grades K - 12 living in the District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia.

The 2010-2011 Qualifying Tournament will be held
Saturday, October 30, 2010

The top 16 players from this event proceeded to a series of elimination matches to be held during the winter and into the spring. One player will be crowned the National Capital Scholastic Cup Champion. The brackets from 2009-2010 are shown below.

Prizes
Champion: Championship Cup + $200 Savings Bond
Runner-Up: Trophy + $100 Savings Bond
2 Quarter-Final Winners: Trophy + $50 Savings Bond
All other qualifiers and players with the same score as the qualifiers will receive a trophy.
All other players will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Time Control for the Qualifying Tournament: Game/30 minutes
Time Control for the Play-Offs Begin at Game/90 minutes

Registration runs from 11:30 until 12:30. Rounds begin at 1:00 and as soon as one round ends the next begins until four rounds are complete. This is a one-section tournament. Byes are not available in this event.

Entry fee: $20 if received by October 23, $30 later.

This is a nationally rated tournament so all players must be or become members of the USCF. Membership may be purchased at any time at the U.S. Chess Center.

Please bring boards, sets and clocks, as no equipment is provided by the Center. The gift shop sells equipment, chess books and other paraphernalia, including Center T-shirts.
